Cassie, age 1, in the Park

Sunday daisies, crazy paved,
graze your blonde head amazed.
A crown of velvet thorns is laid
whilst toddling the parklands.

Giggling in wide-eyed wonder,
laughs the language of the weather,
sunning on your squinted peepers.
Tugging at the grass- hands,

gathering in the newest beauty-
the best of hours it pulls up roots.
Suffer the little flowers who come unto thee.

Arms stretched Christ-like wide, unbalanced
reaching for your juice-cupped chalice,
your Earthly father beaming back-
As mad as a baby can be.

  1. oh you made me see her giggling in that park…full of wonder… juice-cupped chalice..i like…said it aloud a few times..sounds just like the right word for such a moment..nice

  2. awww…that is beautiful…my boys are not too far gone from this stage…7 & 9…but…great imagery as i def watched it all unfold…and in tongue twister fashion too…esp those opening lines…

  3. I like to see an adoring father watch his daughter grow and respond “giggling in wide eyed wonder” … Sweet, Brian, in a male, protective, poetic way. I like. :))

  4. Very sweet and I love that you including the photos! I especially liked:

Thank you for sharing : )
