Still Life

The impenetrable wooden head
impresses,
closes eyes in its refusal.
Ten-inch kadam Buddah sits,
addresses:

his hand holds up just so,
hovering,
suggesting stillness moving
through his shuttered concentration.

He is fulfilled.
He is emptied.
He is solid.

His thoughts move as he flies the concrete vacuum.
He has forgotten to breathe.

  1. nice…love the contrasts…the stillness moving…the empty filling…at peace for sure…the concrete vacuum is def an interesting twist…and a smile as well at the forgotten to breathe…did you check his nose..grins.

  2. Beautiful moving stillness your poem engenders, Brian. I love the completeness of:

    He is fulfilled.
    He is emptied.

And the last line whispered more: Forgetting to breathe, I breathe…
