Dusk Blitz

As the light died,

birds stuffed the little tree.

A frenzy of chatter.

A tube station loaded

with locals, waiting

for the bombs to stop.

  1. This brought me straight back to Iraq; that chilling dichotomy of nature happening around us – just as it always does – amidst the man made chaos of war. I remember seeing part of an incredible, glowing pink sunset blocked by those 8-foot cement bomb blast barriers and birds flew overhead. They got the view I was missing. They weren’t at war.
